First Light Theatre believes in the power of theatre to educate young people whether it is through acting, participating in a class or as an audience member.  Our company is built on this philosophy of learning.  Our educational theatre productions explore issues and topics that are meaningful and relevant to young people and that touch their lives every day.  The plays that we select inspire discussion and exploration of these topics through plays that are written to connect and communicate with young audiences. Some topics include teen violence, bullying, child poverty, peer pressure and most recently, the new immigrant experience. Additionally, First Light Theatre strives to produce plays that are written primarily by Canadian playwrights.
