First Light Theatre envisions a vibrant community where people demonstrate mutual respect for each other’s unique contributions. We work towards achieving that goal by engaging youth in creative drama and theatre programmes where they experience first-hand the joy of inclusion by working with others towards a common goal.
First Light Theatre is a Guelph based theatre organization for young people designed to augment traditional education experiences by providing students with opportunities to learn, experience and perform, helping them to become confident communicators.
The focus of First Light Theatre is to engage youth from a wide range of backgrounds and experience, and through acting workshops and classes and the production of a full scale theatrical production, students will build perspective on a variety of topics and issues, while developing better communication skills and a greater sense of self.
First Light Theatre uses Drama to engage young people with an experience that will help build skills in leadership, communication, risk-taking, commitment as well as an awareness of the power of cooperative work. Working with students from primary
school age to high school, First Light Theatre helps young people develop self-awareness and self-acceptance by combining the challenges of interpersonal relations, group commitment, and personal communications through the discipline of drama and by mounting a full theatrical production.
